Health & Fitness New Years Resolution?

jotarokaiba
Gyms are a waste of time anyway. I know that because I am member of one of the msot exclusive fitness clubs and I rarely go there. Because ..well what stops me just doing push ups or a get a heavy piece of wood and train with that ? Its basically the same. Of course people who live in new york wont have a place to go and train by themselves. But in my town thats quite possible.

i only workout because coach pushes us hard every day, but if i had a gym membership i would get lazy and prob not have any motivation to ever go

@Blue Eye White Dragon I would have to strongly disagree that going to a gym is a waste of time. If you want to get stronger or lose a a lot of fat and build muscle, a gym is a valuable resource. You'd be hard pressed to find items that you could lift in incremental weight around your house. I do agree that it is a waste if you get a gym membership and just use it for the treadmill when you could just run outside. Besides, strength training is 10x more effective at burning fat than cardio. I don't mean to be a dick, but I know you're full of shit. But I can't tell if you're actually trying to convince me of those things or you're just spilling the bio of an OC of yours.

Explain to me how exactly gym is more effective than training at lets say...the park ? Do 20 push ups for starters. then get stronger do 50. Gym makes only sense for you if you live in a really big city where you cant find a peaceful place to train like a forest or a park early in the morning when most people are still sleeping. Me ? Full of shit ? Maybe. But I sure am entertaining. At least I entertain myself. Thats the only reason I'm here I guess.

lol its almost common sense that you can make more muscle by doing bench than doing push ups

Not looking for muscles. I just want to be healthy.

Combination of eating the right stuff and working off excess. Finally getting to it since I finished both my degree programs, so running before work if not at the gym. Anyway, yeah you can work out just about anywhere, but why not a place where it's encouraged and resources for working out are ready and available? I'd say those resources and equipment makes it more effective IF you utilize them. Otherwise, if you have been going off of a workout routine that has been working out for you that your satisfied with then by all means stick with it and save yourself the membership fee to a gym. Your own body, you shape it to see fit. Anyway, for me strength training comes later. First step is to work off the rest of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Then comes the intensity after the weight starts to stablize. And any goals for working out? First, healthy living is #1, but other than that I joined a cosplay circle somewhat where I live (actually a 3 hour drive away from where I live so I can only be group-oriented active when I do my convention panel (Columbia SC, mostly BanzaiCon since they do allow outside food on premise). I know they say body shape doesn't matter when cosplaying, but if you want to get it down perfect then yes body shape does matter. Hence, gotta stay pretty, right?
