So I've noticed that since I've been on MaiOtaku I have yet to run into a Religious based topic. Then again it might be burried and hiding. But I thought I'd create a topic around around it. I honestly don't want religion bashing and hate going on in here, but then again this is MaiOtaku and I'm most likely going to get it anyways. We can discuss any Religion you believe in. :3

By and large I am not religious at all, I dont attend any ceremonies, I dont pray, I dont believe in a conscious afterlife (energy cannot be destroyed, data can however be erased), and I find the idea of super-omnipotent beings with huge morale codexs and egos, yet never physically affect anything, somewhat far fetched.
If I had to pick though I'd lean towards the Lovecraftian Mythos, simply because its the more exciting one to think about, and I had some personal experiences that makes it fit the bill pretty nicely.
Luckily everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, and to defend themselves from prosecution for their faith or lack thereof.
Too bad so many people dont believe this to be so and thusly beat the crap out of eachother because of a different coloured hat or sandals or whatever, religious conflicts are IMO beyond stupid.

I was a confirmed catholic who pretty much became atheist in his early 20's. Well, the seeds were planted well before. I really didn't believe much of what the church taught by the time I got into HS, and by then I was going to Sunday School (CCD which is the catholic version) more to satiate my father than anything who is nearly militantly catholic.
Once I moved out at 18 for school, by the time I was 20 I pretty much confirmed in my mind organized religion was a waste of time and giving my hard earned money every week to an organization that was rocked with child molestation scandals at the time and who were openly protecting those priests who had done it was enough for me never to attend church again.
Now, that being all said I have no issues with anyone who believes in God. It's a personal choice everyone makes and they are entitled to form their opinions on what they feel is right. The problem I have is when organizations like the tea party and religious right start trying to force their beliefs and world views on others through mandated prayer in public schools, teaching creationism or weakening science curriculum to insert doubt while feigning doing nothing wrong in that regard (like the Texas Board of Education did a few years ago), and things of that nature. I'm not so militantly atheist though where things like "in god we trust" on money, singing religious themed christmas carols in public school choirs, or having the 10 commandments posted in a court house is going to really bother me because those kind of things nor is the implementation of them really trying to directly influence my belief system. The pledge is kinda borderline I guess, and it's such a minor thing in this day and age. If I have to say it, I just usually refrain from saying "under god" when that portion of it comes up. I think with a lot of moderate atheists, you do your thing and I'll do mine, and as long as you don't push your beliefs on me, we're cool.

I was born and raised Lutheran by my father and went to Southern Baptists Church with my mother then Pentecostal by my grandmother. I'm personally a non-denominational Christian and I do find other Religions quite fascinating. It opens you up to another perspective and you should understand where that person is coming from in their beliefs.

When I was little believed in god, I prayed and somehow I believe that god would always grant my small wishes but it was just my parent who were overly kindly lol. xD Well the world was really bright and there was nothing wrong.
Anyway when I grew up, all this naive thought about the whole world being a bright place without any problem soon faded away. I begun to be skeptic about God, because there are so many in this world who are suffering, I can understand god dont have time to help all those with luxury problems but them who actually need god's help doesnt receive them. Plus the Darwin theories, which tells about our evolution from monkey to men and the myth of bible that tended to be too exaggerated which open a lot of questions about the religion.
I dont mind people believing in god its their choice. For me I cant deny god but neither I cant believe he exist because there is no proof about god. The science is what I believe at the moment because it sounds reasonable. :P
