@neet_one Wow... That is quite the journey. I can only imagine the amount of stress and dismay you were experiencing for so many months. I was also laid off during COVID, but I was lucky to have refuge with my parents while I searched for work. I'm glad you're in a better place! I'm interesting to know more about your experience with buying a home and fixing it. Were you able to get a loan for the house in Oklahoma or was it -that- cheap? If so, how did you accomplish getting that loan? Did you figure out the bubbling paint? How did you sell the house? Based on everything you mentioned, either you fixed it up REAL nice or you found another fixer upper to take it off your hands. @verrucassault That's rough. It sounds like you'd prefer not to talk about it, so I won't pry. I hope you make a full recovery soon! @arc, same. The stock market has consumed most of the savings I had. I try not to think about it because it infuriates me that I've lived frugally and mindful of my finances only to throw it away like an idiot. All the sacrifice, none of the payoff. I could have enjoyed my life a little more instead. *shrug* But... in the grand scheme of things, I've only lost about 1 year of savings compared to the rest of my life. I try to look at it in that respect...
