Before Candy Boy (Kyandi Boi in Japanese) was a series, it was first released as an original net animation which lasted around eight minutes during November 22, 2007. A year later, it was followed by its seven-episode series which ran from May 2, 2008, to May 8, 2009.

Yuno, a young girl with a dream to become an artist, is finally accepted into her dream school Yamabuki Art High School. Despite knowing that she will be leaving her family to attend school, Yuno is comforted by the fact that she will be staying at the Hidamari Apartments, where fellow art enthusiasts also live.

The game is set at a special, elite high school called Kibagamine Academy (lit. Hope's Peak Academy) which only accepts students of the highest caliber in various fields.

Three middle school girls are overjoyed to be soon graduating to high school status, and they sneak into their new high school, a private school, for a peak a day before their admission. But everything starts to get out of control when they meet three other middle schoolers who mistake them for high school students and start calling them Senpai.
