Were you required to read the Mahabharata at school? Also thanks for the fun story.
hiretsunaotaku
frankie @hiretsunaotaku No we were.......chotto matte. *thinking intensifies* In grade 7, the Mahabharata was part of our syllabus. Although a LOT of it was missing. They just stuffed the entire story into a small thin book. It was our 2nd Hindi textbook apart from the one we had.
hiretsunaotaku
frankie @hiretsunaotaku It was compulsory for my school board tho. I don't know about the others
hakutaku
Lishifu @hakutaku Oh,I see.Did you also learn some Sanskrit ?
hiretsunaotaku
frankie @hiretsunaotaku From class 5 to 8, we had Sanskrit. The entire thing.
hiretsunaotaku
frankie @hiretsunaotaku It was honestly very very easy, since I knew Hindi. I'm good at picking up languages do it wasn't a bother for me. The others would find it extremely complicated.
hakutaku
Lishifu @hakutaku Was it difficult to learn? I heard it has tons of long words. How similar is Sanskrit to your native languages except English?
hakutaku
Lishifu @hakutaku ....oh I replied when you sent that...
hiretsunaotaku
frankie @hiretsunaotaku Sanskrit is similar to all the native languages over here in different ways. All the Indian languages are basically different derivatives of Sanskrit.
hiretsunaotaku
frankie @hiretsunaotaku And yes. It has tons of long words
hakutaku
Lishifu @hakutaku Can you speak Sanskrit? I mean it was regarded to be a dead language.
hiretsunaotaku
frankie @hiretsunaotaku There was a time when I was fluent in it. But since I've been completely out of touch with it for 5 years. I've forgotten how to speak. But hopefully I'll be able to have time to revise it after exams are over.
hiretsunaotaku
frankie @hiretsunaotaku It's not that dead as everyone tells it is. It's just not used in normal conversations.
