Lishifu @hakutaku Interestingly enough, many "leftover" women in China are willing to be leftover(they are unwilling to be in the marriage market) like myself, on the contrary, many men try hard and still get left over, they complain about women's high demands and disrespect leftover women, or rather unmarried, single women who are in their 30s. I have seen countless sexist comments on "leftover" women.

Ghost @kuharido I think women thrive better in today's modern environment. Girls always did much better in school and office type work. In America we have an issue where men are expected to earn more and women are coming out with better educations and higher salaries. Some women have started a trend of "marrying down" as in marrying a guy of loyal economic status but is still loyal and does their best in their profession. Something like a lady being an office manager marrying a guy who's a department store cashier. It's like a role reversal for most.

Lishifu @hakutaku In China, same, in a romantic relationship, the man is expected to be stronger than the woman in aspects like height, wealth, and family degree. I'm far taller than most Chinese guys, so in the eyes of most people, the height is a dealbreaker, my value lies in my baby machine and future career in the government. Learning this truth, I have decided not to participate in any blind dates set up by parents/relatives since I was 18. Also due to my parents' quarrels and fights, their traditional views on women, I got trained to enjoy my solitude. Not having a partner doesn't bother me. If I date, I date people who don't judge me for my height, age and decision of being childfree.

Lishifu @hakutaku Marrying down is totally okay. It is patriarch that drives people believe a marriage works mostly when the man earns more than the woman.

Ghost @kuharido Yeah, it's unfortunate people get tied down by obsolete society expectations. Things like that never bothered me. I always liked being equal in a relationship bringing our own strengths together and enjoying our differences. Unfortunately I don't have much luck with dating and I don't think I'm relationship material. I gave up on trying to find someone and to focus on some goals I want to do instead.

Lishifu @hakutaku Things like that don't bother me too. I love being equal or superior in a relationship ;), since I have learned from my observations that being inferior in a relationship leads us to be bullied/pitied by the man and his family members. I think I'm relationship material but I'm not desperate to find someone especially someone in real life at this phase of life. Career is more important, I'm unwilling to settle down.

Ghost @kuharido I can definitely see that. It's bad when you don't feel valued. I don't mind women in charge myself. It's normal to me.
