On this day 20 years ago (August 26, 1999) Russian warplanes start bombing the Islamist-controlled Russian breakaway province of Chechnya after a failed terrorist invasion of neighboring Dagestan. After several suspicious bombings in Russia proper, the Russian army launches a ground invasion in October. By January 2000, the capital of Chechnya, Grozny is taken after a bloody siege. By May 2000, the Russian army regains full control over the province, but an armed insurgency is still waged for years to come. I was reading about how widely traditional medicine is used in China. Most sources said it depends on the practioner and hospital but most places have a traditional medicine department. One man said his mother, who was a western medicine trained doctor, would still use Chinese herbs when he was sick as a kid. Was that the same for you? Have you ever received acupuncture? I have had acupuncture for insomnia before. I couldn't sleep more than an hour but after about six sessions I was sleeping very well. I have had it done for my mental problems aswell which helps but I need it regularly.
