Though I never actually took like formal classes for learning Japanese. I'm basically 100% self-taught, along with everything else I know about the culture and history. Google is an amazing resource for learning. :u

Yeah, for the past few years I've mainly stuck to manga and light novels myself. But I did watch seasonal anime that came out also. I've always been big on mecha anime so I almost feel obligated to watch every new mecha anime that comes out as a rule of thumb. Though there are series that I've thoroughly enjoyed recently. I've basically been binging the new Dororo anime adaption since it's pretty amazing. I've also been watching Rise of the Shield hero since I've been following the manga of that series since day one pretty much.

Welcome to the site new person! I may be visiting Japan myself next year, a friend of mine invited me since he's going back to visit family and whatnot. To be 100% honest I started studying the language because of my interest in otaku culture, anime, video games and whatnot. But I ultimately became more interested in the actual culture and history of Japan as I learned the language, I'd actually say I'm kinda burnt out when it comes to otaku culture at this point and mainly just play video games in my free time. I do pick up anime here and there from time to time though :u
