Haha, yes! No worries, that's a common misconception. skin diving DOES NOT EQUAL skinny dipping (but to each his own, i guess). Yes, freedivers rely only on their own lung and leg capacity. It's the most well-rounded physical and mental exercise for me. :) If panic gets the better of you, no matter how good at diving/swimming you are, you can totally get into an accident. Mental focus and relaxation is probably more important than physical skill in freediving, i think. The world's freediving record holders can stay more than 15 minutes underwater with just a single breath hold. That's god-like, for me. Anyway, if you can suggest good anime/games about diving other than the ones I mentioned, I would really appreciate it! :)

Haha right! Anyway, the pinnacle of my being Catholic is that I can pray the rosary and a bunch of other prayers in Spanish and Latin, but that's about it. I don't even consider those languages I can speak in because, I mean come on! Skin diving is diving without any equipment, not necessarily without clothes (although some people do that, but the temperature and conditions of the water are critical. You can get hypothermia or get exposed to a lot of species down there, so proper clothing is still important). Freediving is a form of skin diving, though most interchange the two terms. Freediving is more structured, I guess? You need proper training in order to freedive just like scuba diving. There are different freediving disciplines. Check out AIDA, that's where I did my freediving training. :) I can't imagine any good sightings in the Nordic beaches though. i would love to try cold-water diving in the future! It's going to be a whole new experience for me!

Swimming is not incorporated in my school PE classes because I went to Catholic school. They have more restrictions (about bodies, clothes, decency, and perhaps other religious whatever, haha!) We had to go to special swimming classes if we want to learn to swim. My dad was the one who taught me, so I was good. You know what, swimming (not competitive swimming, though, i'm not a fan of that) is a pretty solitary and meditative activity. I don't really swim in pools, I prefer freediving with a friend or skin diving by myself because I want all the beauty of the experience and sights to just be mine. It's the best way to relax or get away from the world for me. :) So are there beaches in Germany that you could go to if you want to just stay warm? I imagine it would only be 'cold' beaches there? Correct me if I'm wrong! :D

Well, it is true the best beaches are in the PH. but most people i know are generally scared of water, since we were born and lived in cities pretty much. A lot of my friends don;t even know how to swim! Filipino parents are also extremely overprotective (in addition to certain mystical legends they associate with oceans wanting yearly sacrifices -- IT'S CRAZY)! There is a certain fear of water for most people that I know. My dad is a diving instructor so I was spared all that crap. He made sure i learned to swim when i was a kid by throwing me in the pool when I was 4. SERIOUSLY. i didn't regret it though. :D

Oh my, you really asked this so I'm gonna geek out, sorry in advance! :D This would have been easier if we're on PM, but anyway -- I've been swimming since I was 4, 5 years old and other than the fact that keeps the world alive, I feel peaceful when I'm in the water. I tried diving (scuba and free) when I was 15 and ever since then, I knew that I would always be obsessed with it. The marine (and freshwater) world is still an undiscovered frontier -- and I find it weird how we could be so into space and the "outer space" when we barely even scratched the surface of underwater exploration. If you do freediving, which is diving without any equipment in just a single breath hold, there is certain depth and time span of breath hold where you just totally space out -- similar to getting high. It's the most powerful, liberating, yet gentle feeling in the world for me. You rely on your own strength of keeping yourself underwater while keeping calm and assuring yourself to stay longer, go deeper, your lungs and your body can handle it. It's ultimate trust in your skill. The ultimate sense of control where you are not competing with or looking to others, just yourself. I'm always searching for anime and games that cater specifically to swimming and underwater. the best I came up with is Nagi no Asukara and Free (but this is more into the competition aspect, so I didn't particularly like it). For games, I tried Everblue and Endless Ocean, which are cool but still limited, for me. One of my plans is to make the ultimate underwater exploration game to get more people into understanding and appreciating the beauty of the world's waters. :D

On a research break so I'm back in the PH for a well-deserved break, haha! Dog-sitting, mostly. How about you? :D Wow, so nice to be called a senpai! Seriously, I'm gonna cry! I look super tiny and young for my age, no one believes me when I say I'm actually older. Yeah, I've been held up at R-18 and PG-13 films. Never mind bars and clubs. I basically hold up the fun when I'm with, uhh, my "grown up" friends. So thanks for calling me SENPAI!!! :D :D :D
