Greetings from an Aging Otaku in Virginia

"Aging Otaku" ha ha, that is both amusing and scary. "All I Got To Keep In The Divorce Was My Anime" yes, my interest/obsession with anime may have been one of the contributing factors to the dissolution of my marriage. Although I had been vaguely aware of anime all of my life (In 1984 when I was in fourth grade I couldn't wait to get home and watch Voltron -- Although the version us American kids got to see was a cut and paste butchery of the original Go Lion series) it wasn't until say the early 2000's I was up late one night and came across FLCL on adultswim - I was blown away! It just resonated with me - the artwork, the music, the whacked out story line. Then I saw Evangelion, and I have considered myself an anime fan ever since. Recent watches: Watamote, Soul Eater, Ef's Memories and Melodies, anything Makoto Shinkai (5cm per second was beautiful), SAO, AOT, Gunbuster. I am devouring all things in the Hayate the Combat Butler frachise, and just got my hands on volume 22 of the manga. I regularly attend local cons Otakon Katsucon and Anime USA.

Hello there. Another Aging Otaku from Northern Va. Sorry to read about your divorce. Just attended this year's Otakon and Anime USA. Contemplating Katsucon. There's another small event in Baltimore in just a few weeks, TigerCon.
