I confess that for the longest time it's been a dream of mine to see NateWantsToBattle/Nathan Sharp in concert, well not only do I get to see him in September but I get to meet him! <3

I always hated the real time combat in Baulder's Gate back in the day. You went from Dark Sun, which kept the game structured more or less like actual second addition rules, where you and a group of friends could swap turns playing your virtual characters the way you would in an actual D&D game, and threw it out for a mess that forced you to keep jamming the pause button because murphy's law acts far too consecutively in 2E, and within a split second, you lost three characters who were doing alright to RNG on three different sides of the battlefield. I never felt like it added anything to the experience. But worse than that, the turn based D&D games stopped coming, and soon everyone was emulating RT systems in Isometric RPGs. All it really did was take a game of chess and turn it into warcraft III. Even in the modern era, they still insisted on bringing it back for Pathfinder Kingmaker. That just... Made me feel less like I was playing pathfinder with a virtual DM, and more like I was just replaying BG. (Although I was glad to be playing with a modern rule set again, where I could actually have options when progressing a character.) Thankfully, BG and PFKM are fun in spite of that pointless deviation from the tabletop game. And I'm just glad that DOS brought back turn based into the equation.
