bish, now you're speaking my language about light years xD You're 100% right that looking at stars is like looking at the past because of how many years it takes for the light we see to actually travel to Earth. The CLOSEST star to Earth is 4.5 light years away, of course, meaning that star we see in the night sky is basically an image of the star from 4.5 years in the past. Other things to consider: 1. Light travels at 671 million miles per hour 2. In one second, light travels 186 thousand miles 3. In one year, light travels 6 trillion miles (1 light year) So keep those stats in mind when you hear the distance to... 1. Earth to the sun = 8 minutes 2. Earth is in the Milky Way galaxy/ distance across the Milky Way = 100,000 light years 3. Closest galaxy to Earth = 2.5 million light years 4. Earth to the edge of the Observable Universe (the limit of how far we can see in the universe)= 46.5 billion light years

Now keep it up. Do 1,000 push ups, 1,000 sit ups and you back to normal. Soon you'll be like this guy: https://en.ratchet-galaxy.com/images/racod/artworks/Unknown/characters/Qwark_wink.jpg

@cadet my question was does the same thing apply to inanimate objects. Can an object we send in space exist in the past as the light from a star does. If something were to venture that far out it would be in our time line but physically in the future on earth
kuro7respect
Yes, I'm talking to you, Papa.
