I didn't think there had been any announcement yet. Although I'm definitely hoping that we do get GGO and possibly even an OVA/movie of MR.

There are always rumors. Frankly, the fan base and DVD sales overseas don't really make much difference when it comes to a series getting continued--what matters is domestic sales. And no doubt, DVD sales for SAO in Japan were very high. So it's possible. I think the second half of SAO dealing with the Fairy Dance arc of the LNs really hurt the series, though. It was already the weakest story in the SAO universe, and it got a very poor adaptation with too much emphasis on holding viewers through Sugu/Leafa fanservice.
