We know hes joking, and thats the problem, rape is not something that should be joked about. Well no one uses real handcuffs(ex. police handcuffs), you can always take them off yourself even with your hands are handcuffed by pressing a button.

And a lot of people in the BDSM community who are more into kink as a lifestyle do precisely that: use real handcuffs. Or even more serious restraints like the kinds used in hospitals. (Note: not me. I just have a lot of past familiarity with this subject.) Safety is always the #1 consideration. Make sure the handcuffs have a key within reach, don't tie a knot if you don't know its risks and how to undo it, etc.
