"What are references?" wow...

So a cosmetology student at my tech prep building asked what a reference was while walking down the hall with her classmates... yaaaaaa..... you're a 18 years old or so, in the final quarter of your 12th grade year and you don't know what a reference is?... wow...

I can sort of see this being a good starter for a discussion on the state of education, but it's also a pretty good starter for a discussion about how it seems like there's idiots everywhere, present company (as always) excluded.

Usually when you're surrounded by just one kind of thing, you think of it as being the norm rather than just one element.
