Liking Anime got me bullied?

the_geeky_panda
Taylor, it depends on who goes to college. Overall though, College is alittle bit more mature and have more of an open mindset (depending where you go of course). Things will get better like they did for me. We are all nice because we all have 2 things in common, we like anime, and we know what its like to be bullied by what we like.

You know this is fucked up, highschool is the period in life that's very important for the development of kids and teens, instead they tear into each other like piranhas. And when you inform the "adults" (using the term loosely here) some of them either try some stuff that doesn't work or makes it worse because you ratted them out, or give you the "What do you want me to do about it?" line. I fortunately found my group of friends in highschool, from another highschool. Though i did get the latter teacher when a kid tried to bully me, found out that holding a pair a scissors to a bully's throat and threatening them to stop is frowned upon... who knew...

While i dont really hide the fact tht i enjoy anime and japanese culture i do not actually tell people i do unless they ask me about it. I most likely would end up being bullied if told everybody so i just keep it to myself mostly.

Can't say anything that's already been said. I hated my high school life.. not that I got bullied or made fun of for the things I liked, it was just plain boring. You aren't missing anything. When were both reincarnated hopefully next time around we can be Japanese school students. They still get teased for liking anime (otaku) but at least it would be home turf!

I've been bullied but not for liking nine. A lot of people are like "they're just cartoons. They're stupid'" where in that case I slap them and smile and walk off with my otaku friends. I get teased about it sometimes, but ya know haters gonna hate. XP (One of the guys who used to bully me lines anime too we're on pretty good terms now) I actually walk around with a giant anime pin and a death note to scare people. In my school you're bullied for people unpopular >.> not for stuff like anime, BUT there is A LOT of anime stereotypes which seriously pisses me off But it will get better! Just find people with the same interests and stick around them ^^

I have to agree with what people have said here so far. My high school life wasnt tough on social life since I mostly kept to myself and only told people I liked video games/anime if asked. College on the other hand is different as said so far. It is more open and progressive since it has people who usually WANT to continue their education. Anyway, enjoy your days there since you will most likely miss them after graduation.

My friends and other anime fans got me through. And after a while I realized that one day those people who make fun of you will experience their own humiliation in life. I don't want to sound cold or unforgiving but the day I heard that a former bully from school had gone to prison for a drug related charge I didn't feel an ounce of pity. That's reason enough not to be a bully. Harsh as it may sound, when a bully dies no one will miss them.
