hello all, I what like some advice on breaking the ice with others. I seem to be having trouble starting conversions with others such as at cons, stores, events...etc. Any advice would be great.

Just talk to them. It seems awkward and it is to suddenly go up to someone and speak to them but if you do so with confidence then it'll be alright. Working in retail will help you out with approaching people as well as give uou confidence.

I agree working in retail helps a lot. I had your issue but working in hobby shops cured me. Find a retail job, if possible, that sells stuff that you love. Makes talking to customers easy as possible. Be careful not to get jaded though. Working retail will expose you to the full range of the human condition.

Hmm well one way is to put yourself in a situation where that's the only way. Moreover the best way to confront is to see what is making you so shy to be shy you have to have a reason. The reason being could be a feeling of not fitting in or a lot of other things. Then in that case what makes you so shy with this.

I think a good way to brake the ice is to insult them. I'm in a new relationship now we've been seeing each other for about two months now. The first thing I ever said to her was "Your cloths are extremely techy looking, so is your hair."
(NOTE: I was very tiered and cranky at the time when I said this, I really didn't mean it by nature I'm a kind and loving guy.)
This is the third time this has happened where I have insulted a girl and next day we go out, if it had only happened twice I wouldn't suggest it, I would chalk it up to pure coincidence, but a third time. There must be something to it.

I would say just be natural and be yourself. Being genuine and honest is best way to start things off. If you are not yourself when you interact w ith others and you d end up in a relationship you will find yourself unhappy if you have to keep putting up the fake persona. Just my two cents. So just strike up a conversation and be yourself.
