So at my anime club our "continuing series" is Mawaru Penguindrum. Its good, but its a total mindfuck. I've been watching it every week pretty much, 4 eps at a time, and its got a good premise:
The Takakura family consists of three "siblings":
Kanba - The older brother, his character is a handsome red haired young man who woos many women but it is implied he loves his "sister" Himari the most of any other character. He will resort to any means to protect his family.
Shoma - The younger brother, he's the more kind hearted, blue-haired brother. He also cares for Himari, but is more of the type of question Kanba's methods and remain in the "white" so to speak.
Himari - The terminally ill sister, who loves penguins. She dies at the aquarium after being discharged from the hospital, but is revived by the "Princess of the Crystal", a magical entity inhabiting a penguin hat. The Princess shares her body, and persuades Kanba and Shoma to find the "Penguindrum" in exchange for her to save Himari permanently.
These three siblings also are accompanied by three blue penguins, one for each of the siblings. They mirror emotions of the sibling counterparts but they're more comedic, even during darker scenes. As far as the anime goes, its chaotic. Its a psychological tragedy with comedy input at sometimes questionable moments, but its addictive. Very much a recommended watch.
I watched it when it first came out and it was such a total mind fuck. I was so sad when it ended i kinda wish it had a happy ending instead of the bittersweet ending that it did.
