Different Religions - Do you see it as an obstacle to love?

meow_tron
i could never be with someone who was really devout, ive been with a religious guy before and he kept pushing me to go but i did not want to so i eventually broke up with him

I'm not exactly the most experienced, but I think that if the love is real, then religion shouldn't matter. I'm an atheist, and most of my friends are christian, but that doesn't stop anything.

..yes but in the long run it can really affect a serious relationship especially if they dont respect each others beliefs. I wouldn't force a guy to come with me to church, but if he wanted to show how much he loves me (for instance) by going to church with me every other week, it would make me extremly happy and I wouldn't try to make him convert or anything but simply having his hand to hold, or shoulder to lean would mean more then the world to me. seriously. he could even fall asleep and i would be just as happy xD. idk im just saying... but i agree about it being about the love, but love is understanding and accepting if it is real :P

^^ I agree but flipped since I'm atheist. I don't mind going to church for someone as long as it's understood that it's not my personal belief. Hell I've gone with my mom to church. I might scoff if they start getting crazy political or something but I don't think it's a bad thing to have faith even if I don't

Religion isn't an obstacle- only the couple's openness and consideration towards things outside their individual perspectives. I've had a few relationships where we had different viewpoints on things.

Tolerance. It doesn't take an open mind to be tolerant either. Funny side note of tolerance. I was at my friends house to pick up her old bike so we could ride bikes around town. Her grandpa came out and we started talking. He was telling us about the tree that had fallen over on his garage. I said, " did you guys get it bad when the storm came through last year?" He then said, first off it's not you's guys. You are addressing a man and a lady, you damn Yankee!" Then kept verbally assaulting me about where I'm from and my lingo. I tolerated him though. He wasn't that bad of a guy, he just had mild cases of dementia.

I think when relationships deteriorate over religious intolerance, it's not so much the religion as it is the individual person
