I've been trying to work out something with this girl I like who is 2 hours away, it's kinda hard for me to get up there as I don't own my own car and live with my parents still so I still have to abide by there rules, tell them where I'm going what I'm doing when I'll be back, have a friend with me etc.
I'm willing to work it out with this girl but she has a thing where she likes to be clingy and like be able to cuddle and kiss and stuff all the time so she's not sure if it's gunna work, I think if that's the case it's just a matter of time, when I get my own place and stuff.
Anyways what do you guys think about distance relationships in general, it seems like a lot of us on this site are actually pretty far away from each other for the most part, so how far are you willing to go to see someone, what is long distance to you, and how much do you have to see someone for the distance and time without them to even be reasonable to you to have a relationship?
Is there anything you need in a long distance relationship for it to work out?
who here is more like this girl I like where they feel like they need the person there, and who's more like me where they can feel good being by them selves, but love seeing the person and feel it's even more special to see that person after a long time?

Two hours wouldn't be bad if both sides had reliable transportation. When you have to start thinking about taking a plane, that's when I usually draw the line.

I'm cool with it. Can't find what I want in a huge metropolitan like Houston, TX. I don't mind traveling outside my state.

When I had a distance relationship with my ex, even when she was a couple of hours away by car, our lifesaver was the bus line. There was a series of five buses that could connect us, so every friday I would bus up, and every monday bus back down. The weekend would be ours to spend together.
I did discover, however, that I can't do that kind of distance over the long term. I'm fine with busing, but not being able to see someone simply because there's a bus conflict or weather change, and having to wait another solid week... Yeah that got a little messed up.

Ya I'm starting to feel that tobitairu. If she moved down here or closer I think a relationship would work out but with the distance like this I'm not sure I can keep up anything serious.

While I was in the Marine Corps. my Fiance at the time and I were able to keep things going pretty well..we were apart for up to 8 months at a time and the only way to see each other was to take a plane...but it takes a special type of person to be able to handle a long distance relationship in the long term...and that relationship actually soured after living together for a couple of years..a lot of the build-up and passion was removed when we were contantly around each other, and imposing on each other's individual freedoms and what-not...so...case for case really...I tried a relationship with a girl that lived two hours away once and it went to crap in less than a month because she was overly clingy and had to text 24-7 while I was trying to work...I got sick of almost getting doused with battery acid because my damn phone was constantly going off...so...ya-know...case by case, if she's compatible, loyal and well balanced I'd go for it...otherwise consider just being friends till you can be closer

I'm alright with long distance relationships, but I think it's difficult and that's only because I like the person I like to be close enough to where it's a short drive to see them. I've tried several of these long distance relationships (Note: many of these experiences were not members on this site) and the conversations were great but then when we met in person, a few times it seemed awkward and one time the guy was actually the clingy one (I like my personal space) and another that had come to see me only one thing on his mind. He seemed totally different then when I had talked to him. I think what drives me crazy sometimes about them though is that it's always "I want to see you" but it's hard when you don't have the $$ to go fly or drive to see them all the time, but I'm talking about relationships that are a state or more away....I'm alright driving about an hour, almost two, to see someone. It's just if time ever permits me to and if I have $$ for gas plus there is the whole schedule things between school and/or work between both people. It can get hairy sometimes and it's hard to find people who understand that. I think it makes it a little harder to trust as well because (and it's probably only my luck) you don't know if the other person is going out and cheating on you since you are so far away....I think it just depends on the situation for people, but yeah I would be willing to take a chance again if the guy was compatible and not overly clingy whenever we would physically meet up

It's definitely do-able though it seems like success decreases as distance increases
My last relationship lasted a few years and was long distance but that's exactly why we couldn't keep it together in the end. It just got too hard for our schedules to come together so we could even talk
Having been in one of those relationships, distance is really one of the biggest deal breakers for me anymore. Which doesn't help when you're located in a remote area ('~`;)

I'm fine with it, but I pretty much gave up on it.
I can't stand distance as I used to in the past.. I need some physical affection for once.
