That's a fair point, I shouldn't be focusing on religion.

Here is the issue with religion and the government.... what ever happened to "separation of church and state".....
People spend more time on how we are different and not how we are alike. A great man once said, "Tear down this wall" of course that was a physical wall, but... well we need to tear down these imaginary walls created by labeling people.

no only that the simple fact that up tight people believe that marriage is a sacared thing between a man and woman never two men or two women. but honestly the only real reason people did get married back in the day was to give brith and have babbies. people think it's wrong because you need two to make one, which doesn't make any sense, now a days there are options to have babies without being married or to have a partner. honestly if two people love each other and want to spend their life together why should anything/anyone stop them regardless of them being of the same sex

I find it very interesting that everyone that has replied to this thread has been on the pro side of gay marriage. This is why I love the whole Otaku community, everyone very tolerant and accepting of each other.

A lot of people justify their reason for disliking homosexuality with religion but I think what's the common reason for that dislike is just stigma more so than religious doctrine. Even if they aren't religious they saw how homosexuals were treated by the media and everyday people around the entire world at the time. When people were afraid to come out and a lot of misinformation just went unchallenged, they allowed the society to sort of define them.
Of course now it's not so much a big deal to come out or to sympathize but back then you didn't get a lot of people to say anything different.
Also people who would debate you on the separation of church and state business will say that it's not technically in the constitution, only that they won't make a law that favors one religion over another. *shrug*

I agree with most of what you have to say on the matter i still will always have sympathy for them considering what they have to be dealing with on a daily basis
