Why is it hard to search for the right girl?

I have to disagree a bit with sandman, the best things in life can be earned but some are given to you for no reason at all and the best girl I ever met came when I wasn't trying to get a girlfriend. I'm currently in the same situation I'm not actively trying to peruse a relationship and yet I still continue to talk to girls I may or may not have a thing with later. Just depends on the heart of the cards as yugi would say :p. The best things can be gained but in romance and love it's not always that way. you can work really hard on a relationship and get no where, and you can do nothing in a relationship and get really far, you can even be negative in a relationship and get really far (see all douche bag dudes and girls who treat there partner like crap and yet the partner still stays with them.) There are things you can do to better your chances but it's not like a talent or skill where you can control it by practicing the only thing you can get out of practicing dating is learning the signs and hoping they are telling you what you think they mean. Even so as I have had many times before you can be misled by body language and really understanding what someone is thinking is like when a pokemon puts up smoke screen its very hard to anticipate your next move. I know I can act or give off body language that I am closed, upset or tough when in actuality I'm open content and a sweet guy. Best advice get out there meet new people and eventually you will find someone or they will find you that's what goes on with me a lot of the time. A common friend a random facebook request or hang out with that person, it may not always work out but it's certainly a start. :p

I think it varies from person to person how you find them. My last Girlfriend I said was the right one and she called me the right one to I found her by accident and wasn't even looking for a girlfriend. The first time we met my first words to he were an insult, "you smell like a bunch of dogs" we each saw a future together, but we had a falling out both our hearts were broken. To the both of us we each got away from each other.

@OP As I said and how Sandman has said it here make sense. My father was a ladies man but he had other issues, alcoholism and drugs being big, so don't get envious of those freaks you do see getting women, the women aren't your type most likely either.

I can see some truth in the psychology stuff Sandman is pointing out. I fiddle more with my hair when I like someone and look over at them more than normal. Not sure about the laughing part but I'm sure there's some truth in it.

You have to talk to them before you can really see any physical hints unless you are extremely attractive to them before you even meet. So I don't see how physical hints can help anyone to talk to someone else if you need to talk to them first before you get any noticeable physical hints. (my opinion)
