Mahjong and Hanafuda

Anyone play Riichi Mahjong or Hanafuda? I do and I love both games! I have a set for each too! I even have a Mahjong nickname, the Mangan Monster since thats one of my most common tactics!

Mahjong I've always wanted to learn more, rather then the usual computer instances. I've also taking a liking to Go, but I'm new and horrible, and it's practically impossible to find someone who even knows a little around here :<

I bought my set in the hopes of bullying people into playing it with me but no-one wants to *cry* so I just play it online with some friends I made. Ive never really sat down properly enough with go, it confuses me. I just need to keep brute forcing it until I start learning how to play and develop tactics. Thats how I usually figure those games out!

I used to play but then all the buy ins got too rich for my blood. Mahjong is our poker. Hahaha

My dad and his friends always had a friday mahjong night . My dad wouldn't teach me mahjong since it's gambling but that didn't stop his friends from teaching me how to play lol

That sounds harsh! Ive never played for money though. Im good, but not good enough to play for money. My problem is Im not great at reading discards quickly enough. Oh and I cant count points to save my life. Theres only so much I can learn playing online...

I love mahjong. Sadly I have no one to play with aside from hitting the game room at con and hoping some people want to play. I do have the same problem with counting points as SimonSan, but it's still fun nonetheless.

I play Hanafuda on my 3DS all the time, but I don't know anyone in real life who knows how to play. I actually have a deck of cards my homevisit family gave to me while I was in Japan, but I never have a chance to use them :(

I have Mahjong Points charts but it still confuses me and takes me too long to figure it all out! Hanafuda is easy to teach someone and since its only a 2 player game it should be pretty easy to find someone to play with!
