Meat, Vegetarianism or Vegan ?

sleeplessjay
Uhm, I think you are very misinformed... Eating bacon is more nutritious than eating any kind of fruit out there. God made animals to become food, it's their destiny. **I'm kidding No, humans are biologically herbivores. I can't exactly remember the details but I've skimmed through many articles outlining why. (It's a pretty common debate so if you're interested, they're easy to find. But michaelbluejay is the one that I read.) Changing my diet is probably something I'll never be able to do, so kudos to you vegetarians/vegans out there.

I like fish and poultry too much to become fully vegan. Have you ever had a turducken? There's no going back after that
sleeplessjay
Turducken, that's a whole new territory that I've never explored fam. Yeah, sashimi.. chicken... everything chicken... zomggg IM SORRY BUT YOU'RE ALL SO TASTY!

Fresh beef straight off the butcher's block. Fire up the grill, put a nice rub on it, get some good grill marks on that bad boy, carve it up, and serve with mashed potatoes with butter. That is how you bring a family together, not over a some lettuce and tomato and stale bread. But by all means, enjoy your veggies, vegans.:)

But humans can and do totally eat raw meat, and raw meat isn't 100% safe for carnivores either. Lions and other carnivorous predators totally can get sick from the same bacteria and parasites in raw meat that we do. That being said, I'm an omnivore and I don't buy organic.
jasonthedude
@leo Okay, you do your thing. I'll do mine and we'll enjoy our own food. @xueli Not really, they only meat we could eat raw is cow, pork and chicken can give you some nasty diseases. Do you have proof to back up your argument that predators like lions get sick from the meat that they eat too ? Omnivore in moderation is fine, but why not organic ? Because it is expensive ?

@Jason, Actually the issue that humans, as opposed to most living predators, have with raw meat is that we tend to store it and thus it's more likely to have parasites, bacteria, and chemical rot. In terms of proof for animals, other than me actually asking zoologist and biologist friends, you can actually see on the FDA website that it's not recommended to feed your house pet (I'm specifying cats since they are carnivores) raw meat due to listeria and whatnot but basically any google search will show a barrage of articles about why we can eat raw meats if we wanted to. It's more a matter of microorganisms in the meat rather than we lack the metabolism. That's not to say that there are NO risks, obviously a lion's GI is more evolved to handle different amounts of bacterias better than ours, but they are not immune to food poisoning anymore than the rest of us. I'm an omnivore period, no moderation. I just eat both plants and animals. I don't do organic mainly due to cost, but there are not enough scientific evidence that there is a difference in nutritional content especially at that price point.

I love animals to the point that I could be a member of PETA... if it wasn't for those delicious steaks tho. XD I love meat, but in the last 5 years I have cut back on my meat consumption. I don't think I could go full Vegetarian. No way. But I'm very proud of what I have done. I take in more vegetables than I did before. Veggies are your friends. Sometimes meat can play along too, though. And............ fuck vegans.

@veru PETA...... Trust me when I say this. They are anything BUT activists for animal rights. The sheer number of animals they've killed.... They might as well be called a slaughterhouse

Sunbae I was trying to just use it as a figure of speech. PETA folks are crazy. LOL
