Tips for New Users

Share tips and advice for new users on how to use and maneuver the site. Some things aren't clear when people join. I'm going to upload some images from the mobile site. Once you create a profile on Maiotaku, I believe it suggests you go to the Introductions forum to introduce yourself. Logged into your account on the mobile site, this is what it will look like. https://media1.tenor.com/images/169f6367bae8044a3862a8884d7899c5/tenor.gif If you click/push the first icon on the top menu, another menu will slide out that will allow you to navigate to other areas of the site. https://media1.tenor.com/images/1e486bbb4c9bc8b9c12e5991d4c8e6af/tenor.gif Anime - the database that allows you to add anime to your profile. This will match you with other users based on your likes. Groups - You can meet with other users who have joined or formed groups on various topics. Conventions - add Conventions and dates that you have attended. Matches - the site generates matches based on your anime likes. Search - search for Otakus near you or based on your preferences (TBH I'm not familiar with this feature but maybe someone else will come along that has pointers.) Newest - shows the newest users who have joined the site. Help - FAQs and a way to contact admin. Account - allows you to view and make changes to your account and some settings. Logout

If you are ever confused on what page you are on at this point you can also check the address bar and see now that it will have the title. "Maiotaku.com/topics"

This is where you will be notified if someone tags you or if someone posts on a thread you have created. To tag someone so they are notified of your post you must use the "at" sign(what follows after). If you use the user handle before the "at" sign, the notification will not work. Example: Name shows as Mrs. Salt@verucassault @verucassault << this works @Mrs. Salt << does not work

They are all pretty straight forward in their descriptions. The best advice I can give regarding them is best to not clown around in Site News & Suggestion or the Serious forum. Mods will give warnings if they think your activity is not appropriate.
