Getting to know people

Heya and good morning! I think you should start with what's causing you to be uncomfortable with starting a conversation. I get shy doing this as well. Usually why I hesitate starting one is because I have some kind of expectations that I'll be rejected flat out at the get-go. I'll imagine myself appearing dumb or saying something that's off-putting in front of the other. Which stops me from initiating anything. If this is similar to you, what I did personally was to ignore any expectations or not expect anything at all! Try to spark a conversation either way. If I say or do something dumb then it's a valuable lesson and experience for the next interaction. Either with the same person or the next. There's really no way around with getting comfortable to starting and holding a conversation than to actually do it and get used to it. Build confidence and keep going, like any other skill. As for starting a conversation, online media gives us some information that will help. Things like profile about me's, the person's wall, and interactions with others helps with figuring out how you can start or hold a conversation with someone when you make a try. Look for something that makes you want to talk. Everyone here wants to have fun. You included. So don't hold yourself back and go for it. If you're not confident with your interpersonal skills still then posting on the forum like the way you are now works too! You seem to be doing well talking to people on this thread AND you were able to start one! You could find active threads to put in what you want to say or make a new thread then go from there. Someone might just start a conversation with you if you or the topic is interesting enough. Gl gl >_o

Thanks and sorry I'm quite late on this haven't been on in quite a bit (got distracted with stuff and just now logging on again) thanks for the advice on that and that's pretty much my way of thinking thanks to my anxiety for most of it. And the idea on talking in threads sounds like a good one and one I know I can usually do easier than clicking onto someone online and striking one up out of no where.
