(west taiwan = china) i agree, i dont know enough about the middle east to have a concrete opinion, but us backing out isnt good for america at all (not saying we should stay, clearly this is a vietnam situation) and west taiwan and russia taking influence in the region is the worst cause situation for us. more reason for us to kill off any isolationist policy so we can keep our alliances sharp and our global economy strong. other countries relying on us is the best strategy to keep our country safe

What Afghanistan needs is its own national hero. It need its own Washington, or Ataturk, or Tito, or Nasser or what have you. It needs its own hero to come up with some kind of civic nationalism that can unite the people around Afghan identity rather than the tribal identity of Afghanistan's many ethnic groups, ideally a secular in nature too. Until that happens, the Taliban with their Islamist ideology will be the dominant power in Afghanistan and no foreign power can keep them down for long.

@beherit I been saying that for years. A new sense of national identity. That can unit different groups together. The tribes are mostly in the countryside and the educated city dwellers have a divide. Something united would help. @momoichi a bit of nationalism is healthy. It forms a sense of a nation and where you want it to go.

I guess i can agree on that. Maybe after tasting freedom to live as they see fit and having it stripped by the taliban we can see them come together for a common goal. Maybe once that 200,000 taliban reigime dies down in numbers.

@beherit I don't claim to be an expert or anything. It's no easy situation but a national hero and identity does strike me as something that would help.

Yeah i agree with ghost. Because when the taliban started rolling in people started to flee. If they really cared about Afghanistan like the taliban cared about their stuff they would have stood and fought.
