High School of the Dead -The reason for the manga's 2 year hiatus was for 2 reasons: a )Writer Daisuke Sato had a heart disease that required a lot of treatment, surgery, and recovery. b) Because of the earthquake that happened in Japan, he didn't think an apocalypse story was appropriate to continue at the time until Japan recovered from it. -The manga went on hiatus from 2008 to 2010, but after March 2011, only one more chapter was released in April 2013. The series was left unfinished following Daisuke Satō's death on March 22, 2017.

Kyoto Animation fire: Arson attack at Japan anime studio kills 33 18 July 2019 At least 33 people died and dozens were injured after a man set fire to an animation studio in the Japanese city of Kyoto, officials say. Reports say the man is not a former employee - but eyewitnesses say he appeared to be angry with the animation studio. "A person with singed hair was lying down and there were bloody footprints," a 59-year-old woman living nearby told news agency Kyodo. "He seemed to be in pain, irritated and suffering, but also angry as if he was resentful. I heard him saying something like 'You copied it'," a neighbour said. The Asahi Shimbun newspaper quoted a 61-year-old neighbour as saying she clearly heard the man shout: "You ripped me off." Kyoto Animation, known as KyoAni, was founded in 1981 and has produced popular animation shows including K-On and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. The studio also released a standalone feature anime A Silent Voice in 2016. One of KyoAni's series, Violet Evergarden, was picked up by Netflix for a global market. How have fans reacted? Japanese anime has a huge following not just in Japan but around the world. On social media, many fans have been expressing their shock and posting pictures of their favourite KyoAni shows. A GoFundMe campaign titled "Help KyoAni Heal" has also been started, with more than $300,000 (£240,000) raised in six hours. ^^^Just checked. In total, the GoFundMe raised $2,367,030

@jc21095 Well see.... I watched the anime and I liked it so much a friend gave me the manga. (I still haven't read it tho...) And when I moved, I might have gave them back. I actually have a list of manga I need to read. But I'm a lazy reader. I've been reading the Hunger Games for 7 years and Dance of Dragons for about 5. I need to set aside time to binge. I just don't have that much time to dedicate that fits into my other shit I do.

The MC is definitely an asshole lol. I don't remember much from it though besides a few scenes. It was one of the first anime I watched subbed back in 2011. The OP is still one of my favorites. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E99MiQkKCpA I think I didn't bother reading the manga since it wasn't too far from where the anime left off, at least when I looked it up.
