Consciousness is a complex biological process working within the brain. We don't fully understand how the brain works. Hence we don't fully understand consciousness. Once we understand the brain within a certain high comprehensive level. We'll understand what consciousness is. Humanity is not at that point yet. It is kinda trippy when you think about it though. Humans are trying to figure out how the brain works. In essence, brains are trying to figure out how brains work. A brain is trying to figure out how it works. Consciousness is trying to figure out how it is conscious.

im still pretty new to the general morality world (i got into morals thanks to watching a lot of vegan debates really) i guess i can ask you questions that could help you find where you base your morality in a thought experiment i really like to use is: Is it immoral for a man to rape an unconscious woman if she will never know she was raped? as well as the thought that incest actually isn't immoral at all, its simply compounding factors that tend to coincide with incest that are immoral, factors such as having control over someone else. you cant use the argument that they might produce defected offspring because then your making a pro eugenics argument that can also apply to people with genetic birth defects stuff like this really fascinates me i also fully believe in objective morals. any person with a fit mental state would have to agree that certain things are immoral.

but you cant use a 'just because' argument you cant justify something by saying "it is because it is" in this hypothetical its a contained situation where he would only do it once with that woman this kind of goes into objective ethics as well, people throw around 'empathy isn't good" but its because of empathy that you wouldn't want that woman to be raped even if she didn't know she was. from a utility standpoint its actually a moral act. he feels good which is moral and she isnt harmed which is neutral. but why do we feel like its wrong? because we wouldn't want that to happen to us. its the same reason why we want to respect corpses, corpses have 0 consciousness so why not let people do what they want to them? because we wouldn't want our corpses defiled
