@koroshiya_desu how many episodes does gintama have? If it has more than 80 you cant talk about how many episodes being in for character development. Re:zero is built solely around mystery. You dont know why Subaru is there, you dont know why he has this power, there are even some easter eggs that arent explain. Its like unraveling as the story goes on and getting deeper into the plot. It doesnt just toss out the premise of the story episode one. Thats why its true art. Naruto's main goal was become hokage and be respected how many episodes did that have?

how many times would you rewatch re zero again and again? not really alot cause it is not a really fun anime to watch...it is a good psychological/mystery anime...but thats it... gintama is a good shounen...it actually has good romance progress..it actually has character development arc for each every damn sub characters in it...if you try comparing gintama to re zero ..gintama is the obvious winner... that is why I said that these 2 are not comparable

it is like trying to rank Saitama in the hero scale...it is not possible cause it makes no sense...cause saitama is too OP

@koroshiya_desu so you will rewatch gintama a 300+ episode anime multiple times? I have rewatched re:zero a few times....on plane rides and watching highlights from episodes on youtube. Its an interesting story that has things you might miss the first time around. Gintama besides jokes which will get old after you have seen it a few time what else does itbhave going for it?

bro i rewatch it every summer vacation I got and the recent rewatch waas like my 4th or 5th time..and I still tear up at the end some good arcs..eventhough I still know what is gonna happen

gintama is soo much more than a comedy anime...this is what people who haven't watched it won't understand..until you actually watch it

Also why do we need character development for side characters? Rezero is one of the few anime that actually have character development for characters you probably only saw once. As well as leaving open ended paths for you to guess what their back story is...such as wilhelm and the red haired swordsman. Its not mentioned but you can assume reinhardt is the swordsman's son. Stuff like that. Thats the beauty of the anime.

bro you dont call that character development..that is just revealing that characters past and backstory...for it to be character development the character has to be well defined and has to grow during the episodes you watch...and you will see them make choices that will make these characters grow

the only "character development " is re zero so far is heavily concentrated on subaru the MC ...which is like every other anime....and in this season we might see beako character developin alil thats it
