See the thing is, horror is a cursed genre. There's pretentious attitude towards horror both in the audience and creators. If you haven't seen the staples like Beserk, I recommend them highly. Personal favorites: Jigokuraku, Kichikujima, pretty much any Junji Ito work, I am a hero, and Higurashi

The OG Boogiepop was one of my first anime and I was completely obsessed with it in elementary school. I'm sure that did loads for my psyche.

Shiki is my go-to. I don't know why I love it so much. Maybe because it tries to rational from the monster's perspective as well as the humans.

If you're up for some games, Arc bought this really interesting one called Detention. Then I think we saw a lets play with Markiplier for a game from the same company.
