If someone's standards are too high, to realistically find a partner (and I'm not arguing that that doesn't happen; romantic and sexual culture does create such expectations, and as you said, in both sexes), it is solely their problem. If you theoretically meet someone whose standards are too high, you should not complain about them, since you are as far as I see, showing entitlement to their reciprocity, but should just move on and find someone who matches interest with you. But I'm sure you understand this, you seem a smart guy.
