Most of the time villains are made more interesting and complicated and imperfect like humans and heroes usually save the day and so on, that's why I guess the majority ends up being more interested in the villains.

Part of it is the fact villains are often an active participant in the story propelling it forward while heroes are the more passive and simply responds to the villain's actions.
