On my mind

So does anyone have trouble making friends or is it just me? I feel like I have to hide my true self. Once I mention that I watch anime and like video games, it seems like I seem weird to people for liking that or I am too old for it. Is there such as a thing as being too old for it? I liked anime since I came across it when I was younger, it was my way to escape the reality of my abusive parents and be happy if for a little bit. Now it seems harder since I am a mom and people have a negative image of being a parent and liking video games. Like I take care of kids, make dinner, clean, help with homework, and give them attention, but once in a while I play on warcraft on the computer if I taken care of everything. I do go afk if my kids need me because I like the game but my kids are more important, even though that causes me to die a lot, it's fine with me. I do all this and people still think I am a bad parent for it. Sorry if it seems like I am ranting.... I guess I am a bit.

I sometimes feel similar. Like when I meet people irl, I feel there's this expectation on me to be professional and what society expects from me. I honestly find that getting to know people on the internet is easier since there's less of an expectation on me to conform to a standard.

Well i guess it's up to who you ask in the end. I'm 24 and my mom is OK with gaming and stuff like that but to my grandma it's a totally foreign concept. I'm in a circle that equals to going to a pub or gaming Smash ultimate in weekends right now though. Actually a funny story: ''Was taking a smoke when i saw a girl with Amazingly long purple hair walking into this bar i was drinking in with my m8's . Purple or blue hair equals to anime fans where i live though. So ended up casually walking up to her asking about advice on how to color my hair blue (has been thought for a long time tbh) ended up talking to her about all kinds of anime. Both of our favorite anime was Clannad and Angel beats and got her snap. That stuff about you being a bad parent.... i don't even understand the logic behind it and i'm not a parent either so i can't relate. But you are a bad parent because you game? Who are these people? Are they retarded? Gaming equals to being a bad parent?

I do not really connect to people. I need specific individuals to make me feel like I can be close to them. I do not trust, like or understand people. But I am a friendly and "open" and "sociable" person. Honestly, once I feel like I found the right person, I am all in. No takebacks. Better have 1 person close to you that you like than 10 whom you have nothing in common with and don't know you at all. I also think having no one is better than having someone that makes you lonely & sad or is not enough, etc.. Also, you are never really too old for such things. All it matters it that you have fun and that it makes you happy. Something like anime or a game can bring you close to like-minded people.
