Making friends!

How do I make friends with people who are into anime/mangas? Ok so I recently moved to the Boston area not too long ago for my job and I don’t have any friends who share these hobbies with me. I have seen some cosplayers inside malls but I am too shy to start a conversation with them since I don’t know them. How do you guys find friends who are into anime/mangas and can you give me any tips.

Starting here was a good first step. I find that wearing merch of things you enjoy has the highest success rate if you're not good at initiating. I wear a lot of heavy metal band shirts, and from time to time people will talk to me just to comment about the band or compliment the shirt.
