Ingesting a lot of sugar is just a risk factor for diabetes not the cause. The exact cause is unknown but it's a matter of the pancreas unable to process blood sugar properly. Since a slime has no blood, pancreas, and sustains itself with water from what I have seen then it wouldn't be able to get diabetes in the first place.
