Vkei Trash Discovery Realm

Hi there everyone~! I love listening to j-rock and music as much as a lot of other people do, but what I'm really passionate about is visual kei ( vkei, ビジュアル系、v系) I love everything about it. I think that some bands are a lot better than others, and sometimes the grandpas of vkei do really great things too. Visual kei is important to me, and it's getting a resurgence funny enough! It seems like we're going through the 5th wave of vkei right now, where bands like The GazettE are getting a run for their money by smaller bands like キズ (kizu)! In this thread I'll end up posting some finds and jams. I don't expect anyone to respond since it's so... niche? but you're more than welcome to comment and leave other bands you think are great.

Not really recently, but キズ has been releasing singles left and right every couple of months, it amazes me. I'm surprised they have the stamina to do it. I think 0 is one of their most powerful singles, showcasing everything they've got. LiME is the vocalist and a veteran to the vkei scene. Reiki is the guitarist, and so skilled! He's been in two other bands before this one. yue is my favorite bassist currently. He's SO spunky and commands his space with his bass. Just listen to that TONE. AHHH. THE DRUMMER THOUGH. It hasn't been a full 24 hours yet but.... I didn't forget about my lovely lovely boys of the band ザアザア! ザアザア, also stylized as xaa-xaa, is a band that started in 2014, half of the members from the band Belsmosiac. These guys are a personal favorite of mine, I can never shut up about them, they're so catchy. They're what whole-heartedly got me back into vkei all over again, falling for the fun of it and looking forward to every release. Kazuki,（ 一葵）is known for his deep voice, sometimes there is this air of desperation in his voice, leaving you wondering what he is crooning about to begin with. A majority of the lyrics he writes are about being in pain, people, and how he cannot understand, or in the latest case, how he shoves people away because they treat him too well. Reiya, (零夜）The bassist of the band, his basslines are complex at times, and as someone who has covered some of their songs, it leaves me wondering how he did it! He's pretty popular amongst the girls and they sell a dakimakura of him on their website. Haru （春）The guitarist for the band, he's got some sick riffs! He helps make these incredibly catchy songs, I can only imagine how fun they are to play on the guitar. He's adorable, please be sure to look at photos of him. An-chan (亞ん）The newest member, he replaced Roji. We (collective xaa xaa fans) miss him, but I think as a replacement, An-chan is okay! He get's some of the best looks for their releases tbh. He also knows how to really throw down for some of their heavier songs. OHHHHHHH Okay I'm late. Here's a band, not like the other two? The drumming pattern reminded me of キズ and I had to talk about them because I'd be dumb if I didn't. This band is called DADAROMA. They're a lot heavier than ザアザア, and they're still so fun. Funnily enough they are signed to the same record label, so the vocalist from ザアザア and DADAROMA actually perform together quite frequently. DADAROMA started also around the same time as ザアザア, in 2014, though ザアザア was just a bit earlier since they debuted in March. Their original line up has changed a bit since their drummer retired due to illness. Vocals: よしあつ（yoshiatsu) Yoshiatsu has some of the most intense screams I've heard. Not like Kazuki's where they're sad or you know he's in pain... these are POWERFUL. He goes in. It's amazing to see such a powerful voice come out of a small person like that. I want to be able to do that! Yoshiatsu's entire aesthetic is clowns. It's kind of amusing to watch. Guitar: 太嘉志 (Takashi) Takashi's guitars are well thought out! I love his outfits :3c Bass: 朋 (Tomo) This bassist is so fun! My goodness these basslines are fun to learn even if they're easy sometimes! Wow okay time to cover some of the grandpas of visual kei here we go lmao. Today is about The GazettE. The GazettE started back in the 90's, I believe in 1998. They're one of the forerunners of visual kei because of how long they've been in the scene. It's not just their length in the scene though, it's also their willingness to adapt to the new landscapes. They've been filling up Bukodan Stadium for years now and have had 3(?) successful world tours. They've hit most continents, and their popularity skyrocketed after doing to opening for Black Butler 2. They were originally signed to Peace & Smile Company, before moving to King Records, and then moving to Sony Music Japan. Ruki, the vocalist, has stayed pretty strong and consistent. His vocals have gotten a lot deeper since their beginnings in the 90's, but he has improved so much! His strongest vocals are probably in their faster songs, though his screams are pretty good as well. He's a bit of a diva, and he has his own fashion line called RAD MARKET. He goes by Nildeunnildun on social media as well. He's really great live too. Aoi: The oldest member of the group, and also the rhythm guitarist, has been so fun to watch! His defining features are probably his hair and his jawline. haha. Uruha: The lead guitarist. He's know for wearing pants that show his legs because he's all leg. lmao. Either way, he's really fun to listen to, his guitar licks keep a lot of people coming in for more. Reita: The bassist. He wears a noseband so the nose has eluded all of us. He does some jazzy bass riffs and always seems to have fun with everyone. He used to be one of my favorite members of this band, before it changed as my tastes changed. Kai: The Drummer, and the leader. Kai is the quiet leader from what I've noticed, his drums are strong and they multiply during each tour, one day his drum kit will encircle him entirely. He is an absolute sweetheart from what I've seen in interviews and he's seen as the mom friend, as he cooks for the members when he's on tour with all of them.
