@momoichi The British declined cause as a whole colonial power became obsolete. With their colonies being made modern they wanted independence. Ironically colonial powers building up nations helped with that. The two world wars also contributed to those changes. @momoichi Ottomans had already declined before WWI. It didn't really adapt with changing times but the major death blow was siding with Germany in WWI. After losing it was broken up. Rome was a very different time period. Numerous factors contributed. First off, Rome was different from colonial empires in that it assimilated regions together. Anyone could potentially become a Roman citizen despite race or birthplace. Over time the empire got too big and territories revolted. Rome also got too big into Nationalism and stopped integrating new groups of people into Roman society and those people became fed up. Classical Rome had already disappeared by this time. This was only in the western empire though.
