i see i see
i actually reject this notion that its aim is to teach teen boys, as the magazine the manga got published in is not aimed a teen boys, but is a seinen, which hosts an adult demographic. while it does give a cautionary tail about treating your body right (i myself felt guilt toward my bad eating habits while watching it) its aimed towards adults, not teens
my main gripes with the show are aimed at the fact that the character designs are worse for nearly every single cell, and it has pretty lazy and predictable writing. while i do infact appreciate that its a dark spin off taking place in a 'code black environment', which i think is a good plot for a hataraku spin off, it isn't handled with any kind of grace or nuance.
iv seen this a million times in animes. the gunho new recruit is really happy to start his job, but quickly the true realities of the dark world he lives in sets in. while yes it kills off characters pretty much every episode, they are cheap kills. nothing but red shirt esque background characters. its a cheap trick used in tv a lot to introduce a new character early in an episode just to get you attached and kill them, giving the false, undeserved sad feeling.
as for the chimera abomination, I'm referring to the sperm cells. iv been watching with my bf and we couldn't stop laughing and making fun of their design (and the fact that all their hard work will probz end them up in a sock). red blood cells continuous break downs feel excessive and his 'we can do it!' feeling also feels stereotypical of any protagonist. there really is 0 nuance. if you wanna make a dark anime then at least try and be original. the breakdown during the erection episode was insanely predictable because we knew that sex wasn't gonna be for reproduction, so it was just lame. i guess iv made it very clear his break downs and words of encouragement are just hollow because iv seen them so many times from so many main characters in this same genre before.
the character designs are bad.

look at her cute lil shorts, her black tank top and her red jacket with the sleeves slightly rolled up? that's a good design
compared to
pretty much same uniform og white wore except showing off the tits for literally no reason. its lazy and its cheap.

NOW in episode five when it shows her in a tank top, THAT was cute! i liked her like that! if her design was the over coat wrapped around her hips, that would be cute and have a reason to show off her tits (because of the tight fitting tank top) but otherwise her tits are out for 0 reason.... its lazy and cheap.
i also have a gripe with the killer t cell design
he was young and cute in the first one and was an actual character that they didn't intro just to kill for a cheap emotional scene. the scene with the new t cell crying was sad, absolutely, but it was undeserved and cheap. he wasn't even an established character and this is a trend in this show. they intro characters just to kill them for an empty, lazy, cheap emotional scene.
OG killer t had an awesome relationship with his commanding officer, because they actually bothered to build it up. this killer t officer is just 'go hi im over stressed cause the body is stressed and im just here for an episode'
now
my main argument will be my closing argument. hataraku saibou og HAD DARK DRAMA AND DID IT BETTER. remember the cancer cell from the end of the season? that was done more rewarding and so much sadder and emotional then ANYTHING THIS ANIME COULD EVER OFFER.
hataraku saibou og had it all. good character design, good character relationships, didn't red shirt its characters, and had real, sad, dark, drama

ill clarify i do like hatraraku saibou black and ill keep watching it, but it brings nothing new to the drama genre is is a cookie cutter of all of the others in its genre
the mc reminds me of subaru, the happy guy that breaks down, except subaru broke down far later in the anime, where as this mc breaks down asap in every single of the 4 eps
its repetitive and again, just an over used trope that was given 0 nuance, just shoved into the mc's character
kaneki ken put up more of an optimistic fight and that made his break down way harder
a character has to try for the break down to feel worth it

the anime is like a potato chip. its cheap and bad for me, but that's why it tastes good.
still, i would prefer a meal over a potato chip

I didn't say teen boys i said teens and others around age 16 and older since it would benefit them the most rather than a 30 year old who's already addicted to smoking as for your comment with the character design not only do they have more detail they even added the jojo line things to make it more serious which kind of made me appreciate it more and also the erection scene did turn out to be for reproduction which is shown after he nearly got an std for most likely hitting it raw which the cells berate him for saying why would you do that when you have a poor immune system. It isn't like any anime i've seen he was excited for like a minute and instantly found himself in hell ik what type of anime trope you're talking about but this seems to be the opposite where he hates it and sees no point in doing it and as he does it more and more he loses more and more faith in his job but u1196 is not only motivating him but helping him find reason for his job I personally prefer flat chested over oppai but u1196 is hot because of her figure even without her chest showing it would still be true since she's got them hips and not only that but I love her personality and exactly my point when you brought up her in a tank top and if you wanna talk about tropes the cancer cell was literally just kaneki and as for the killer t cells these were more accurate since in the og it also states the body doesn't use killer t cells all that much since they also attack normal cells which is what was shown in code black and the mc isn't nearly as bad as Subaru Jesus did I hate Subaru unlike Subaru he got back up fast and I only remember the mc breaking down in the 1st episode the rest of the show he just questions his purpose

i mean seinen is pointed toward males specifically, and adult males at that. so like around 18 is seinens main demographic. its a petty argument that I'm just making for arguments sake really :P and adults can learn from this stuff too, like i said its made me feel bad about the bad stuff i do to my body
the jojo line thing you mentioned is called (if i remember correctly from art class) cross hatching. that's actually one of my gripes xD its distracted and used in the general art style, not just when something dramatic is happening. i dislike it, but stuff like that is hard to debate against/for so we can leave it at personal preference.
season 1 and the spin off absolutely has a decrease quality in animation

the quality is a very noticeable difference.
also no, he got an std because it was with a prostitute xD so it wasn't for reproduction lol. and the sperm monsters ending up in a sock was just a joke me and my bf were making, but just shows that because of the shitty design of the sperm cells that there was no suspense because we were too busy cringing and laughing. gonorrhea is a good subject, but it was handled poorly and just lead to unneeded fanservice and red shirt deaths. i like fanservice as much as the next guy but it was done poorly. monster molests sexy ladies, been there done that. not to mention why would he be molesting them when hes only ever seen killing them prior? (by molesting I'm referring to when he kicks that ones abdomen, it was for no reason other then monster fetish. it even goes against the monsters motivations.)
there's a ton of anime with a happy protag that gets beaten down, and again re;zero is the best example, except, again, they actually take time to build subaru up before they send him crashing down, which is a much better and more rewarding way to handle it
this protag its 'im ready for my job!' and immediately he has a break down, like mid episode. everything is rushed and nothing is deserved, and then it happens in the next three episodes!
kaneki ken had a normal life, was thrown into a bad situation but sucked it up and did what he had to to live, and was actually happy. and he tried really hard to adapt to his insane surroundings until he finally broke. it took 12 eps for him to fully break. this protag broke multiple times for 4 eps til he changed as a character, and now hes optimistic? why? because its his job? the dude from the first ep literally told him the same thing white blood cell told him, 'its your job, just keep moving' but when a character with titties says it all of a sudden it sinks in??
and fuck this brewing romance between them, red and white in the first had WAY BETTER chemistry that was built through an entire season! and EVEN THEN THEY STAYED FRIENDS! BECAUSE THESE ARE CELLS AND CANT ACTUALLY REPRODUCE OR FALL IN LOVE! whats wrong with just having a nice friendship! why would a cell be aroused?! ITS FANSERVICE FOR FAN SERVICE SAKE AND AS A CONISOUR OF GOOD FANSERVICE I LOOK DOWN ON SUCH THINGS! L.A.Z.Y!!!!!
whitey2 (ill call her this for less confusion) is cute. but it took me til ep 5 to see this. her in a tank top ad her hair up is cute. but give me one single reason why her and every other white blood cell has their tits out in that uniform? what possible reason outside "kek titties in ma face"?? she was so much cuter/sexy in a tank top, it showed off her tits but also showed off her natural body shape which was even hotter then just having tits out.
wtf did you even watch/read tokyo ghoul?! i demand you to tell me how the hell the cancer cell was kaneki ken!? (I'm a huge fan of tokyo ghoul, iv read the manga multiple times so this argument better be good xD your talking to a feral tokyo ghoul fangirl)
the og didn't use killer t cells as much because the body was healthier, and again i like this concept of an older body being a hellscape, the training video at the beginning showing a happier word environment was a great touch and a great way to throw off not just the protag but also the audience, but good concepts like these are far and few between in this anime.
again, every single death in hataraku black is cheap. id rather an anime that didn't posture that its dark but only using cheap, lazy, over used tv tropes like red shirting. like the og hataraku. og hataraku had comedy a long with its education. something that could actually educate younger people about how the body functions, while still delivering a tear jerking, dramatic ending like with cancer cell
