cero, read the entirety of what i said hes appealing that social contracts are the baseline of morality instead of empathy, but in some social contracts pedophilia, slavery, and naziism was allowed, there for according to him they were morally justified this is a debate on morality atm, my side being the baseline of morality is empathy and him being social contract try and read more before jumping to conclusions, cero-chan ok, mio "In moral and political philosophy, the social contract is a theory or model that originated during the Age of Enlightenment and usually concerns the legitimacy of the authority of the state over the individual.[1]" maybe you should have been the one to read that article in layman's terms social contract is really nothing more than appealing to popularity and law, both deeply flawed ways of thought naziism was a social contract because at the time it was legal and the mainstream for nazi germany was slavery not a social contract? that everyone was in agreement that owning slaves was the social norm? in socialites with pedophilia, is it not in the socialites social contract that this is permissible? ill also ask, so you value the life of ted bundy over any person with down syndrome? if someone close to you was born with down syndrome, would you break your own morality? does slavery not benefit you? free labor, having a man or woman in your house to organize your things and do things for you. slavery would absolutely benefit you, so why is it bad? ill try and explain again to you social contract is the baseline of morality, no?

how Are morals based on empathy? Like I have morals but I don’t base them entirely on my empathy neither do a lot of others. Maybe your morals are based in empathy

its the golden rule: treat others as you would wish to be treated that golden rule is how we should all function in society and its based off of empathy we're talking baseline of morals, alzeuzia that everything is based and branches off of one thing in my point of view, empathy what is your moral baseline?' (all add to mio his baseline is social contract, which is why he stated that raping mentally retarded people to death is morally justified, but im the crazy person for stating pedophilia can be a social contract. gotcha ;D)

On the note of social contracts I’d say some ppl generally have an innate sense of morales ontop of their environment so wouldn’t it be a more of a combination instead of just the social contract or just empathy. Like environment, evolution, social evolution, and general perception of surroundings, ontop of those who dictate and the collective cognitive? Tis why ppl h8 eachother nowadays tbh cause the debate of the morale baseline of its nuances on objective and subjective :p

sure its subjective, but one objectively does less harm than others mios moral baseline allows for the raping to death of mentally retarded people and babies born as vegetables mine states that you shouldnt kill and torture animals same as you wouldnt kill and torture a human

My moral baseline is with truth and function tbh, more or less it’s shifted towards that because of an internal debate of perception v.s the actuality, which I encompasses the idea of being kind, empathetic, and what I mean to myself, because it is a positive function that is beneficial.

isnt truth subjective though? and same with functionality kindness and empathy are the same thing, so i feel like your just kinda on the side of empathy being your baseline

That’s a strawman if Mio tbh, kinda seems like your putting in a jab for the sake of a jab. The thing mio described was close to in group and out group preference for his self morale baseline
