I don't expect to ever make money off of my passions. And even then, I'd rather get my work out there before selling my skills out to other projects. So I do often find myself working at the less fun jobs while I funnel a little extra toward my own projects. And yeah, most temp places tend to send people like me to those jobs that have a high turnover rate. A boring job is perfectly fine. It lets me think about things while I work. A challenging job is fine (In small doses), because it makes the day go by faster. So jobs like that don't really bother me.

Well, that is particularly worrisome because right now the economy is probably as good as it is going to get. What kind of jobs are you applying for? A job in your field (if you have one) or anything you can get. If you can't find work in your particular area you might have to move elsewhere...

Sometimes just the lack of work experience can be a hindrance for finding a job. I'm a retail manager and I do look for some customer service experience when looking to hire some new people since my store doesn't lend itself all that well to being a person's "first" job. Even just being a cashier at McDonald's for 6 months can be helpful even if it's not your preferred line of work to start off. My other recommendation would be to check places like manpower for temporary employment just to get some experience under your belt if you can't find a more permanent position.
