The one successful long distance relationship I was in was very happy for the first several months, but something came up and her mom wouldn't let her online any longer, so she'd have to rely on sneaking online. Eventually, she seemingly got her access to the internet back, but she refused to talk to me. She ghosted me, as it turned out. Like others have said, long distance, long term relationships can work, but they need incredible loyalty and time investments from both sides. Sadly, especially for people my age, those standards are almost impossible to meet.

I ended up moving from Idaho to California a year after high school for what started out as a long distance relationship. Took a plane/bus to see her a couple times before moving there. It was great while it lasted, I should've put mich more effort in as she was "the one"
The relationship ended because of my choices though, still have some regret for making those choices 8 years later although everything happens for a reason

All of my relationships have started online only ever met one in person, soon to be two. Honestly, I've never been able to connect with people locally like I have with people online.

I think it depends on the person you are with and how you are as a person.
For me long distance is something that really works, since I need freedom in my life. I have a really hard time being social in general since it really takes a lot of my energy just to be with my family.
Last time I was in a long distance we met up at her place one weekend every month and otherwise we took to cons, walks and cosplayed a lot together. We spent our days texting and calling each other.
It worked out for us so I think all depends on who you are as a person. But I find that long distance is the best thing for me :)

Long distance is totally reasonable, but it really does depend on the people like anicos said. It comes with its own set of pros and cons much like face-to-face dating, which means it is not something that's going to be fruitful for everyone.

Honestly it really depends on the person and what's your connection with them. My longest relationship was a LD one and honestly it was one of the best periods in my life,i loved that girl so much i practically sacrificed my whole life for 8 months,i haven't been going out or studying for school but don't get me wrong i really loved her and i don't regret anything that i did.
I also had a recent "local" relationship that lasted a month and we both kinda rushed into it and didnt really meet each other that well and i figured out i really felt bad with her she was extremely toxic and selfish so i broke it off with her.
Point of my story is that as long as its the right person everything will be fine,if you feel like she/he's the one go for it!
