Prepare for glitches. Looks like some messages are being dropped again. You could always post something on the users wall. That is somewhat like tagging.

I just had problems, but I solved it by tapping the person's name instead of the message

Uh...might need more details then that. Perhaps a step by step screen shot of the tagging please?
