Have you ever just happen to come across an anime that you normally would not have watched and found you could not stop watching. I have had a few but yesterday I came across a slice of life comedy that I am still laughing over. One of the funniest I have seen. Watch NO-RIN. The back and forth humor was fantastic!
Ballroom e Youkoso. It's about a dweeb who takes up ballroom dancing and becomes awesome. It deviates from the recent influx of moe-blob visuals for the shoujo design, which is actually quite refreshing.
It's about a card game you've probably never heard, and it's categorized in the sports genre, but I viewed it as a romance series... and one of the best I've seen! And I never hear anyone talk about it...
Today I clicked a "best of" video of anime openings, but it was unique in that it was best of every year until 2015.
That's how I came across Ginga Senpuu Braiger. I had never heard of it before today, but it has a nice OP song to it. Not something I would have expected of its time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlm9J5NY-PU
It's about a group of criminals who have formed an elite unit, in control of a powerful robot - Braiger (Bryger). They've decided to offer their help to anyone who needs it... for a price.
This is from before Mobile Suit Gundam aired, which had popularized the mecha genre. I've only watched the first episode, but it's clear that it suffers from the lack of history behind it, yet it also has a certain charm where they've gone a different direction than you'd typically see from the genre.
It's really in love with its main theme, however, which although it's good it might just kill my enjoyment if it's playing in almost every scene.

There's Chihaya for the guys...
And Taichi for the gals...
