hm... this might be some good food for thought.
maybe it’s not so much that we find the presence or lack of things like hair, bad breath, etc attractive due to societal standards but that society has become focused on certain traits because they can be indicators of fertility and overall health.
i can definitely see how lack of hair in females can indicate youth and increased fertility from an evolutionary perspective. similarly bad breath can hint at poor oral hygiene and other underlying health conditions. i think it’d be natural for selection to favor traits that correlate with longevity and healthy offspring.
overtime various favorable traits would become more and more pronounced in our populations which may have led us to where we are now with people shaving, using make up, taking supplements, etc.
of course i’m not saying that people can’t find a particular trait attractive. if someone is really into hairy legs, beards, or whatever, then awesome.
merely putting the idea out there that maybe this is how we got to where we are and why we see preferences.

also could be worth noting that the same logic can be applied to why we see “traditionally” less attractive traits, like flat chests and narrow hips on women, becoming more frequent. since now that we have hospitals, grocery stores, and other means to take care of ourselves and families, traits that used to be life threatening are no longer being “selected” against.
(after writing all this, i do have to admit this is a very science-y and meta way of thinking about attractiveness, but hopefully somebody finds it interesting lol)

I dislike hair, on me mostly. Waxing is painful, but a necessary evil.

I don't care if a guy has hair or not. The last guy I was with, whom I still love and am friends with, had 0 hair on his entire body (no eyelashes or anything) and he was fine. I will not, however, date anyone who cares about hair. Because superficiality is a turn off for me. And superficial people usually have tiny brains, and tiny brains are one of the biggest turn offs ever. XD

I was answering the thread. u wu Because........there are a few superficial people (fussy about outward appearances) and that's usually a cover up for having 0 intelligence, when they're super fussy about things as trivial as NATURAL hair on bodies. That's just a fact. I've dealt with people who care about that sort of thing and they lack in substance when it comes to personality and mental capacity. Those who seem to put their focus on more important things tend to have better character traits and personality. There are a few exceptions to the rule, but overall ehhhhhh. XD People who focus too much on what OTHERS look like tend to have not much going on upstairs tbh.
