how many partners can somebody have??

so ive never had a boyfriend (go figure lol) but i sort of have this five way simultaneous crush going on right now and ive realized that i probably couldnt really ever date just ONE person (unless it was THE ONE and marriage was in the future bc shoot i donut support polygamy). But nonetheless, this raised the question- Can/Should someone date more than one person at a time? (like an open relationship). And if so, how many boyfriends are too many? edit: OK I THOUGHT I WAS CLEAR ABOUT THIS BUT I GUESS NOT ???? Hell no. Polygamous marriage is illegal for a reason. Why is it so wrong to only date one person? Just because divorce rates are high doesn't mean multiple partners is such a cool thing. I find it far cooler, far more touching, when I hear or talk to older couples who have been together since they met when they were teenagers in school (my grandparents were like that). If I were to ever date more than one person at a time, it would be because I didn't care about any of them. Then that's not really dating is it? It's just fooling around.

Call me traditional but one person is good enough for me lol I can't and won't speak for every person out there but usually dating more than one person doesn't go over too well.

Can't have your cake and eat it to. It's not really going to be dating the person so much as fooling around if it's multiple people. Especially with five people, feelings are bound to get hurt in a situation like that but if you talked to each person and ran it by them and they were fine with it then go for it. Eventually someone's gonna start caring more than the others and possibly get hurt though.

Do whatever you want. Honestly, you can date 20 people, if you want to. Just make sure that each and everyone knows about all the others. Be open about it. That's how that works. Just to ellaborate some more: You can date however many people you want, but they also have the freedom to do so. Also if you tell them you are building a harem for yourself, they might find that idea repulsive and just not agree to date you. And personally I want to have something intimate with my partner. Something that you could never reach if you were not concentrating your efforts on one single person.
