Since '-sama' is the suffix used if you're referring to someone who would be your superior. '-dono' is basically used as like "Mr" or "Ms" from the position of someone who is higher up the social/economic ladder, referring to an inferior. Like a company CEO would probably refer to one of his rank and file salarymen as "Takahashi-dono" or something.

Damn dude, all the hate for "daddy," I wouldn't expect that. I mean, I guess I didn't get it either until a really bratty older girl called me daddy without warning and it was like... whoa. Nah, -dono is not used for 'lord' it's more like a super formal/polite way to address someone. Basically the type of language you'd expect in professional settings (teineigo), while -san is more or less the same thing but it's just the general everyday honorific-styled language (sonkeigo)
