>social credit system
Oh HELL no. You realize this gives MORE power to the corporate elite, right?
I'd rather not have my ability to participate in society depend on someone else's "grade" of my speech.

Do some actual research on the consequences of it before you start endorsing totalitarianism. Don't just come in like, "hurrdurr but it sounds nice".
With that kinda system you realize it will be tracking more than simple social media posts, right? It will include private correspondence.
Consider that this is already happening in countries WITHOUT a social credit scores.

@John Felix:
I really don't believe it's that far off from where we are now sadly. The United States has just been going a different way with it, they're collecting the information BEFORE locking down. There's a few topics that I believe are directly connected to the end game of a "social credit system".
Let's start off with LifeLog. This was a project that was essentially going to become a gigantic database of civilian information; looks, messages, life events, etc. It was put to bed in 2004, then a social media website we all know very well emerged that did the same things as LifeLog was attempting.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DARPA_LifeLog
Next let's talk about PRISM; it was the government program put into motion by the Bush administration after 9/11. What it did was allow the government to pull any information they want of a civilian from social media. Pictures, personal messages, metadata, location, blog posts, YouTube posts, etc.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PRISM_(surveillance_program)
The United States really isn't that different of a Beast as China; we're really just a few steps away from becoming it. They already know everything about you, whether you're a United States citizen or not. Foreign nationals have already been affected. Now how easy do you think it would be to zero out your "social credit score" if you dissent from the government? You can be denied the ability to get a job, to buy a home, to fly in or out of country... Essentially you've just lost all your freedom.
Everyone seems to love totalitarianism until it's no longer their team with the power. This is why I'm Libertarian and not something like a NatSoc; even IF I can trust the sitting administration, it's far too likely extremists from either side will take the reigns.
What are you left with after you've pumped the government so full of power and authority then suddenly it doesn't work for you anymore? You've already given up everything in good faith, it's too late.

@John Felix: "If you think that you must have a house, or a credit score, or a transcontinental flight then you've already been halfway brainwashed into becoming a slave through fear."
>If you want to keep your freedom you're already a slave through fear.
Lmao, alright kiddo. Let me know when you get out of the parents house and have to fend for yourself for once. Sleep on the streets awhile then come back and tell me how you don't NEED a house. And yes, even if you don't use/abuse credit; a score is NEEDED to qualify for many things one needs to survive in modern times. Not everyone lives in the inner city with public transportation.
It'd be great if we could go back to local homesteads and fending for themselves, but if you've paid attention Americans have already been arrested for it. Because they didn't apply for minor things like fishing and hunting licenses.
So again, I will NOT even entertain talk of giving a government power to decide how much a citizen can participate in society based on a social construct like a social credit score.
No, not EVERY politician is scum; be honest, if you had a box of pocky and one stick was poison, would you eat any of it?
