What makes a good friendship?

For me, personally, I can be friends with anyone who wants to be a friend. All it takes is a little kindness and a smile. Or even being compassionate about the same things. But a close friend it's a little more complicated. We must click on the same level, have a special bond, honesty, humor, similar interests, being open to each other, being there for each other when times are rough, and even gossip together. I'm naturally not an open book. So the ones that do see me open up are the lucky and true friends I have. With the others, no matter how I feel I will put on a fake smile to avoid talking about it , making a scene and I simply don't talk about myself. I appreciate any friendship I get though. So I am thankful.

When you can sit back and do absolutely nothing and not be bored or want to leave. Then you got a good friend.

Empathy, personality similaritiers, some capability to discuss stuff with each other and time to get used to each other and the goal to form a good friendship

Compatibility. Shared interests, and hobbies. Shared views, values, and beliefs. And, they should actually love, and respect you. And, you should to them, too. You should be able to go months, or even years without interacting, to then pick up where you left off like time has not passed. If you don't have that... They'll betray, or abandon you at the drop of a hat. And, the absolute worst "friends" to have are ones who want to use you like a tool, such as ones who want in your pants, who just fake being friends in the hope that they'll get opportunity. (What's so bad about them is that they sabotage the object of their affection's love life to try to isolate him/her for themselves, and they get in the way, trying to compete. (Tauri are prone to have harems/reverse harems of such "friends," who get utterly cutthroat to isolate them.))

Accepting each other how they are is the most important thing in my opinion

Being able to understand each other, even if they are different and being non-judgemental about them. Having a 'friend' who makes you feel horrible on a daily basis whether it be in a verbal manner or non-verbal manner is not a friend. If you have a 'friend' who thinks they're superior to you, get out of that friendship, it's not worth it.

A good friendship is when you both are there for each other during the hard times. For me, there are two types: the casual friend and a true friend. A casual friend is only there during fun times... but a true friends is there to listen to your stories and support you.

The pinnacle of true friendship between a man and a man is when they love each others as brothers would. This can be achieved through a variety of means. Having many things in common, growing up together, shared traumatic experiences. I assume its something at least partially similar between a woman and a woman. As for between a man and a woman, the pinnacle of friendship would be true love and marriage.
