I'd need to educate myself more on German history before I could comment on that.

(I think I've rubbed off on Arc lol - post from page 1)
Here's my gripe...
It takes a certain type of person to become a doctor or even just get a PhD and be an expert in anything. Having said that, these people are not entirely exceptional; look at people with a huge podium in the US like Ben Carson. He has done wonderful things but also said climate change is "not a big deal" yet its projected by scientists the ice caps will melt within 30-70 years. I digress. Back to doctors...
Doctors take out tons of student loans, like $300k which is substantially more than the average person with student loans. However a dr's salary can range from $150-300K per year, meaning if they live frugally they could have their loans paid off in a few years, no need for the 10-20 year payment plan unless they just don't give a shit about interest. Where am I going with this?
The dr's lifestyle. They can work crazy shifts, anywhere from 12-24 hours, but maybe they only work 12 shifts a month. They are typically contract labor which means they are not necessarily employees of any particular hospital so if they want to pick up extra shifts, they just go work at a different hospital. There is always a need for doctors. But if they have no malpractice suits or can do any crazy operations, they can demand $300-400 per hour for their service. Why? Because they are in demand.
What they do is important but they make the Hypocratic Oath a joke if they can hold out that much money and just not want to help people if it's in their capability. They are not considered the 1% but I also don't think they deserve that kind of pay. Clinical or family practice doctors make less than surgeons but are still overpaid because the nurses can do 90% of the doctors job.... basically the hard stuff.
Now you want to get into the 1%, into corporate America. Here's this... I'm sure I've posted it before but anyway...

Hmm...while i agree the top percentage of wealth is a bit much...im curious as wether the op meant rich vs poor. Or just the raw difference from one job/position to another.
The idea that the rich should be taxed more is always something i agreed and disagreed with. Its pointless to tax someone if we arent gonna spend what we getbfrom them in taxes well. So just like for us on the lower level. Its not about the money made but how its spent.
Rich get taxed more? Sure. Or rather. Less and less tax breaks (as they are in different brackets altogether) but let me explain why i feel just more taxes on them doesnt quite do enough. Persone A.) Makes 50k a year. Lets say for whatever reason for arguement purposes, a 10th pf that goes to taxes. So he pays 5k in taxes. Person B.) who is well off gets 500k a year. A 10th of that is 50k a year....even if a tax break cuts that in half...its still 25k. Thats still at least 5 times more. And yet our country is still in debt.
So before we go about the evils of whatever political party spent so much to put us in debt. It was both...lets just be honest here...then again..i dont like politicians on ANY side.
Do i begrudge someone who earns more than me? Not really....they either worked to get that or were fortunate enough to have an easier time getting there. Good for them. Do they pay any taxes. If so even with breaks they pay more than me....sooo.
Point is, is wealth inequality fair? On paper it kind of is. Those who either work more...work harder to get where they are at, SHOULD have more. But we all know it dont work that way.
Increases taxes on the rich? Go right ahead...im not rich so no skin off me...but is it going to solve the problem? No not even.
I know a lot of my long posts about serious issue will circle around and say the same thing over and over again...but its to reiterate and push the image further to explain.
That said. I dont think someone should be earning millions of dollars with nothing shown for it. We got hungry people in the country so some of that should go to them. (Not saying they DONT donate to charities but we could see a little more.)
Edit: also...reminds me that i wonder how ppl feel about food stamps. Do you guys think how it works should be changed...and if so...how?
